Greg Houser, CFA

Managing Partner, Chief Investment Officer

Greg Houser

Greg Houser co-founded Chinook Capital Management in 1997, where he is the Managing Partner. Greg has over thirty-eight years of experience in the investment management profession as a chief investment officer, portfolio manager and securities analyst. Chinook manages investments for retirement funds and non-profits nationwide as well as for individuals located primarily in the Pacific Northwest. As Chief Investment Officer, he leads an investment team responsible for asset allocation, stock selection and sub-advisor selection for the firm's clients. Greg earned a BA in Business Administration from the University of Oregon (1970) and an MBA in Finance from the University of California at Los Angeles (1971). He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a member of the Portland Society of Financial Analysts.

Greg's recent community activities include service as President of Loaves and Fishes Centers (Meals-On-Wheels), President of the Multnomah Athletic Foundation and member of the Board of Advisors, University of Oregon Lundquist College of Business. His past community activities included service as Chairman of the University of Oregon Business Advisory Council, Director Emeritus of the Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation, Board Member of the Autzen Foundation and Director of Another View Foundation.

Greg and his wife, Lesley, have been life-long Oregonians. They have four grown children including sons Trevor, Peter and Sam as well as daughter, Taylor.

Lantz Stringham, CFA

Lantz Stringham

Lantz Stringham is a Partner and Portfolio Manager for Chinook Capital Management, LLC. Lantz joined Chinook in 2002 from RedChip Review, where he was a Senior Equity Analyst concentrating on small- and micro-cap equity research. Prior to working at RedChip, Lantz spent five years as an investment analyst at American Express Financial Advisors and as a general partner and manager of the Olympus Mountain Emerging Equity Fund, L.P., a small-cap equity hedge fund. Lantz graduated from the University of Utah with a BS in Finance (1994) and has fifteen years of investment management experience, holding the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation since 2000. Lantz has made his home in Portland since 1999 where he lives with his wife, Nena, and daughter, Sadie.

Grant Brown, CFA

Partner, Portfolio Manager

Grant Brown

Grant Brown, CFA, is a Partner and Portfolio Manager for Chinook Capital Management, LLC. Grant joined Chinook in 2004 from Ascend Capital, a large hedge fund headquartered in San Francisco, where he covered the Technology and Healthcare sectors from 2000 to 2004 in a fundamental research capacity and assisted in the design and operations of a quantitative based fund. Prior to working at Ascend, Grant was an Analyst at Credit Suisse First Boston (CSFB) within the Mergers and Acquisitions Group headquartered in Palo Alto which covered the Technology sector. Grant has held the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation since 2005 and is currently an Expert level candidate in the CIPM program. Grant is originally from Lake Oswego, Oregon and attended Stanford University where he earned a BS in Industrial Engineering (1998/1999). Grant returned to Portland in 2004 to join Chinook, where he currently lives with his wife, Taylor, and two daughters, Ellie and Milly.

Rick Schmidt, CFP

Client Relationship Manager

Rick Schmidt

Rick Schmidt is a Client Relationship Manager for Chinook Capital Management with responsibilities for client service and business development within Chinook's private wealth services. Rick joined Chinook in 2005 after 14 years as a Vice President and Regional Director with Columbia Management Company, a Portland-based investment firm that was acquired by Bank of America. Prior to his tenure at Columbia, Rick served as an Associate Product Manager for IDS/American Express Financial Advisors in Minneapolis, MN. Rick earned a BS in Agriculture and Resource Economics from Oregon State University and an MBA from the University of Minnesota. Originally from Pendleton, Oregon, Rick returned to Portland in 1990 with his wife, Eileen. Their family is completed by daughters Kristin and Anna.
